Our 2023 Series Event Two at Hallamshire Squash and Rackets Club in Sheffield took place on 25th March and the Northern UK Racketball contingent had a field day, securing 5 out of 7 of the day's titles!
In the A Grade Yorkshireman Mike Tolman swept through the draw without dropping a game, taking his first title of 2023. Likewise in the B Grade, Paul Knocker Norton (2022 Series 3rd Place finisher) got his year under way in style, taking out his Doubles partner Billy Hawes in the Final in straight games. In a rare win for the Mid/Southern part of the UK, Shropshire's Barry Talbot battled through a tough group in the O40's, in particular scraping past Kieran Muldoon 13/11 in the 3rd in a tight best of 3. In his first UK Racketball Series event back post knee surgery Merv Davies got another win on the board for the rest of the UK as he took the O50s title over regular UK Racketballer Paul Dodds. Great to see Merv back and I'm sure he will be menacing the rest of the O50s regulars for the remainer of the year now! A big draw in the O60s was taken in emphatic style by Paul Haigh without dropping a game, despite having to play 5 matches in the day. Graham Greensall continued his strong start to the 2023 season by winning through a group of 4 in the O70s, meaning he takes firm control at the top of the Series rankings with two tournament wins out of two. Finally, an entertaining Doubles final was won by local Hallamshire duo Dan Hindmarch and Olly Jansen over Merv Davies and Stuart Dix 2/1. Thanks to Hallamshire for hosting us once again, it was a great day of matches and we look forward to re visiting in October for the British Open! Until then, we move on to the next event - the Central Open in Bristol on 22nd April... You can check out the latest UK Racketball Series rankings here: www.sportyhq.com/ranking/group/1727/2023

Our first event of the 2023 UK Racketball Series took place at Broxbourne Sports Club on 11th February and with a fully packed out draw it was always going to be a good one. This year's event certainly didn't disappoint!
There were some class matches across all the categories, from a high quality Open Final between Nick Mulvey and Luke Bishop (the former getting a revenge win from his loss last year), to some brutally tight Doubles, B Grade and O50s Semis and Finals. Player of the day has to go to local Broxbourne legend Danny Weights, who not only captured the O40s title after a hard 3/1 win over Alexis Smith, but also alongside partner Adam Grilli managed to topple top seeded pairing Luke Bishop and Amber Marshall in the Doubles Final! The list of winners can be seen below, along with the link to the event page on Sporty HQ for all the other results from the draws. It was great to see everyone back in action once again and we look forward to keeping the Series rolling with the next event at Hallamshire on 25th March for the North East Open! For our final event of the 2022 season we come back to where it all began, the Park Squash Club in Nottingham. This year on top of the usual double header of the East Midland and National Doubles Championships, this event has even larger significance to us as it is our 100th UK Racketball tournament! Very fitting that it happens to take place at our home venue. Throughout the day there will be special offers on at the club bar, then after the matches and presentations are all done and dusted we will be celebrating at NSRC with some food (on us!) and some well earned drinks. We would love to see as many of you as possible on the day, so please do get the date in the calendar and get your entries in via Sporty HQ. All entrants will also recieve a priceless piece of UK Racketball 100th event memorabilia upon signing in at the tournament desk. If that's not going to motivate you to enter I just don't know what will!
