The first ever racketball/squash57 inter-county finals took place this weekend at Nottingham SRC, which saw 19 teams travel from 12 different counties to compete for what is sure to be the first of many competitive weekends. The event was played over 2 days, with a total of 29 fixtures throughout the weekend, with the teams and spectators being treated to some top class racketball/squash57 with the likes of Tim Vail, Mike Harris and Zoe Fennell all competing for their respective counties.

Mike Harris Squash57 National Champion leading out Devon and Ted Jeal National Racketball and Squash57 runner-up taking charge of Kent. The Over 50's will be an interesting competition with Racketball doubles being played for the first time in Inter-Counties. There has already been plenty of talk over what combinations will win depending on how other teams line up. Essex and Devon hold the top two spots in the seedings but with Norfolk and Buckinghamshire both set at 3/4 the 50's is set to be an open field. Four teams have so far entered the women's grade with representation coming from the countries Racketball hotspots, Essex, Devon, Surrey and Yorkshire. Essex once again look like the side to beat being led by Zoe Fennell. With two weeks to go before Inter-Counties this year's competition is looking like it will be a fantastic weekend with 25 teams signed up. There has been some big changes to the National Rankings this month with the points from the 2018 National Championships coming off. David Worrall replaces Stephen Widdison as England No.1 in the Over 60's and Billy Jones takes the top spot in the open... There are now 171 players in the Open Ranking's list and 377 players split across all categories. It's great to see how much the National Rankings have grown recently, a big thank you to Patrick Osborn for all the work that he has put in to make it happen!
