Double World Record Success for Basingstoke Squash Club

Following the report in last month’s newsletter, we have now caught up with Grant Ward and Mike Sohachevsky who smashed the World Record for the longest squash marathon, completing 31 hours of non-stop squash!

The pair raised almost £4,000 for Cancer Research UK and The Sports Centre. From this, The Sports Centre have confirmed they will be repairing all 3 courts in full in April 2012.

Other members of the club also succeeded in setting a new World Record by playing a rally of 632 shots in the World’s longest squash rally. Grant said “I thought that attempting these world records may be a great way to promote the sport, the club and also raise money for some great causes. The support we had was fantastic and we want to thank everyone who came along to cheer us on”.
